The Howard University Student Health Center provides quality healthcare services to full-time and part-time students with access to care for acute sickness, injuries, contraception management, chronic disease management, referrals to specialists, health promotion, and disease prevention education. The health center is privileged to offer various health and wellness related services that emphasize and encourage physical, mental, spiritual, and academic growth.
Our goal is to inspire and empower students to become proactive in their health and wellness by adding value
to their collegiate experience. The health center's staff consists of expert healthcare providers and administrative support staff who are well prepared to provide students with high quality care in a safe and conducive environment.

Schedule An Appointment
All visits to the Student Health Center are by appointment only. This includes laboratory services, prescription refills, and STI testing.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for check-in.
Hours:
Fall and Spring Semester:
Monday - Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Closed daily for lunch: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Summer:
Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Closed daily for lunch: 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Students may schedule an appointment by calling 202-806-7540 or clicking on the Schedule an Appointment. When appropriate, telehealth appointments are also available.
Appointment No Shows
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for check-in. If you have not arrived within 10 minutes of the scheduled appointment time, it will result in a no-show. You will then need to schedule a new appointment.
After Hours Care
Students with UHC-SR Insurance have access to Medical and Mental Health services through HealthiestYou 24 Hours a day. Please visit, www.telehelp4students.com or you may call 888-870-8815.
Students with outside insurances, contact your insurance provider for coverage.

United Healthcare Student Resources (UHC-SR) Insurance
Howard University offers students insurance through the United Healthcare Student Resources (UHC-SR) Insurance Plan. Coverage includes preventive and annual doctor's visits, access to mental health providers, referrals to specialists (copay required), hospitalizations, surgical procedures, diagnostic tests and imaging studies. Coverage depends on the specific insurance plan. Students who are not covered by the United Healthcare Insurance Plan are encouraged to contact their insurance carrier to verify their coverage details, prior to receiving Student Health services. Insurance Waiver
Students that wish to waive their access to the United Health Care Insurance, please submit your Insurance Waiver.
Please note all questions and information about enrolling into or waiving UHC-SR insurance are handled by the University's Bursar office.
Other Insurance Plans
Students with other private insurance carriers (i.e. Cigna, Atena, BCBS, etc.) can be seen in the student health center, but may incur various charges depending on the insurance plan.
Kaiser Permanente & Out-Of-State Medicaid Insurance
Students with Kaiser Permanente and out-of-state Medicaid can be seen in the student health center, but cannot get laboratory analysis, referrals for imaging, and specialty referrals. D.C. Medicaid is the ONLY Medicaid we accept.
